Maintenance

We try so hard to maintain our sense of self,
Our group of friends, our shared beliefs.
We keep a roll of who is in and who is out.
And none of this means anything
Only serves to separate us from one another
At that high and holy place - the deep within that is wide as the universe

But to drop a lifetime of learned behavior and carefully crafted shell is a frightening proposition.
It is difficult to accept that by losing everything, giving up everything, we gain everything we could ever need or want
Yet there it is. Out there. Waiting only for you to say "Yes."
